This is technically a tragic backstory, but given how common it is, it definitely deserves an entry in this features all of its own. Protagonists in role playing games are allergic to parents- with parents still in the equation, apparently, RPG protagonists simply cannot be destined to do great things. Either both your parents are dead, or at least one of them is, and failing that, they’re never even mentioned or brought up at all. Either way, more often than not, parents don’t seem to have much of a place for themselves in RPGs.
