Dead Island 2
In terms of its own properties, Deep Silver has been having a fairly strong run in the past year or so. It released Metro Redux, a remastered bundle of both Metro 2033 and Metro: Last Light which received strong reviews; Saints Row IV was arguably the series’ peak and will continue onwards with Gat Out of Hell in January 2015; and despite development issues with Crytek, Homefront: The Revolution is looking pretty good.
However, Deep Silver has been hit-or-miss with the Dead Island franchise. After a compelling first game, we got the underwhelming Riptide and the horrible Escape Dead Island. That being said, Dead Island 2 seems to imbue much of the trademark style and humour – along with the cinematic flair that caught people’s attention the first time around – that Deep Silver is known for.
The fact that the beta is exclusive to PS4 for 30 days means that even Sony sees potential in the game. Maybe there will be more gameplay footage to whet our appetite for the undead at PlayStation Experience?
