Final Fantasy XV: Episode Duscae
Final Fantasy XV originally started as an installment in the Fabula Nova Crystallis series that would include Final Fantasy XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII (which later became Type-0). It was to be released as an exclusive on the PlayStation 3 but fell into a developmental black hole before finally re-emerging at last year’s E3 as Final Fantasy XV.
While not technically a full game, the something-hours long demo of Final Fantasy XV – included for those who pre-order Final Fantasy Type-0 HD on PS4 and Xbox One – will be our first, hands-on look with the nearly decade-old action RPG. It will be our first look at the new world, the visuals, combat system and above all, whether Square Enix managed to deliver on the massive hype surrounding it.
Above all, this will be Square Enix’s first current gen Final Fantasy title. Will it go the way of Final Fantasy XIII and spawn numerous, horrifying sequels? Or will it be the title that will finally redeem the franchise? Time will tell but the upcoming demo should provide plenty of hints.
