It Was All A Dream
After all the torture, trial and error and whatever Birdo ended up being, you would think Super Mario Bros. 2 would at least end things on a high note. But no, it was all a dream in Mario’s head. Why? Well, why not? Does this play into all the worlds of Super Mario Bros. 3 being nothing but stage plays? Is this a deeper meta-commentary on Mario’s true life? We’ll never know.
