Yes, we’re talking specifically about the first three Halo games, and whilst Master Chief’s arc continued into Halo 4, we can still consider the initial trio as standalone seeing as the central conflict is largely resolved. Halo: Combat Evolved put the Xbox on the map, an ambitious FPS, fantastic enemy AI, evocative environments, phenomenal sound design – seriously, Combat Evolved was near gaming perfection. Halo 2 and 3 continued the trend, in multi-player as well as single, and it’s been a standard the series has struggled to maintain since.
