Kaiju face off against giant robots in a doomsday scenario but there’s a lot more going on in 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim. Part turn-based strategy, part adventure game with branching dialogues and scenes, the player explores the story from the perspective of each of its 13 different characters. It encompasses the past, present and future, with each new chapter offering new revelations and pieces of the overarching puzzle. Once everything falls into place, the utter scale and brilliance of the story is fully revealed and it is glorious.
