The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
While The Legend of Zelda series has mostly stuck with its structure of a fable of good vs evil, it has deviated from that formula with a couple of entries including 2000’s Majora’s Mask. The game takes place in Termina, a land that is doomed to be wiped away by a large falling moon in three days. Majora’s Mask opens up with Link riding through a rain-drenched forest when Skull Kid steals the Ocarina of Time from him. This is followed by Skull Kid casting a spell on Link which transforms him into a Deku Scrub. Sure, it’s not as dark as many others on this list – but when compared to the dozens of entries in this long-running franchise – Majora’s Mask definitely stands out.
