Shadow Of The Colossus

Fumito Ueda is the undisputed master of minimalist storytelling, and his works of art are able to evoke strong emotions of empathy and sadness even without the use of extensive dialogues or character arcs. Shadow of the Colossus is no different in this regard, and we meet our protagonist undertaking a dangerous journey to a mystical land far away. He crosses forests, mountains, and bridges in unfavorable circumstances, all with the hope of once again breathing life into her friend. Even the plan entails slaying the many Colossi throughout the landscape, who are the only semblance of life left in this long-forgotten kingdom. It’s all topped off by a melancholic soundtrack, which sets the perfect tone for the journey ahead.
