Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain

Metal Gear Solid has never shied away from revealing the harsh realities of war, but perhaps no game in the series starts out on a darker tone than Metal Gear Solid 5: The Phantom Pain. Venom Snake wakes up from a 9-year-long coma to a beautiful rendition of David Bowie’s “The Man Who Sold The World” and a severed hand. As the doctor starts to explain Snake’s disastrous medical conditions to him, an assassin sneaks up and attempts to kill him. A man by the name of Ishmael comes out for a last-ditch rescue, and we literally crawl our way out of the hospital – which is a heart-wrenching sequence to witness and partake in.
