The Order 1886
The Order 1886 is an interesting case study for a video game; it stood on all of its promises and yet failed to make any substantial impact on the industry. Then why did it fail, we hear you ask? Well, a lot had to do with its relatively short runtime, which clocks in at an average of around 7 hours. The Order 1886 was a full-priced game when it came out in 2015, and despite its gorgeous visuals that still hold up surprisingly well today and rich cinematic gameplay the game just didn’t sell well enough to be considered a commercial success. And of course, it’s a very linear single-player game – so there isn’t much room for replayability or co-op fun – which ultimately made this release a very sad disaster.
