Knack
One of the earliest launch titles for the PlayStation 4, Knack was supposed to represent the technological leap that the new generation of Sony consoles was bringing to the table in not only a graphical sense but also from a gameplay perspective. Fans were also hoping to get a fun platformer like Crash Bandicoot or Ratchet and Clank with Knack, but it failed to stand up to that level of expectations. The highly automated platforming sequences and basic brawling combat made it feel like a game solely meant to placate a younger audience, which alienated fans that wanted more from the experience.
Further making matters worse was the fact that Knack was only available for the PS4, which already had a relatively smaller install base at that time. Sure, it looked good and ran well – but that simply wasn’t enough to get fans to want to jump to Sony’s newest platforms. All in all, Knack was easily one of the most underwhelming PS4 launch exclusives, and Knack 2 didn’t do much to alleviate those criticisms either.
