Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain
MGSV eschews the atmosphere of emergent open worlds. Instead, Kojima’s last outing with Konami is best thought of as a tactical sandbox. Sure, vast desert plains littered with outposts seems kind of soulless initially, but these landscapes are cleverly designed for players to explore as many combat strategies as they can dream up. They’re the kind of places you’ll keep revisiting if only to try something new.
