RimWorld
RimWorld’s graphics are serviceable, its systems requiring some time to learn and its ethics incredibly questionable. As a story-telling tool, however, it’s incredibly robust. You crash-land on an alien world with three colonists and must survive long enough to build a ship and escape. The random traits of your colonists – from pyromaniacs to artists and mobsters – to the AI Storyteller that determines events – from downright brutal to sending a horde of Terriers your way – keep things interesting. The terrific interpersonal stories and extensive freedom to explore the world and do as you please with horrifying consequences also make RimWorld so addictive – you never know who’s going to fall in love or unearth an ancient evil.
