Need for Speed (2015)
With the success of other “always online” titles, why wouldn’t EA want a piece of the proverbial profit pie? Try saying that with a sense of pride and accomplishment. Anyway, Need for Speed (2015) took this approach with a single-player campaign that required an internet connection. This was all for the sake of Autolog which, to be honest, is completely superfluous without other friends playing the game. At least Need for Speed Payback had an offline campaign option…even if it messed up just about everything else in terms of gameplay, monetization and so on.
