FAR CRY 5
Far Cry 5 was something of a change in direction for the series after a few years of following a pretty rigid formula. Rather than being set in the wilds or on an uncharted tropical island, or thousands of years in the past, Far Cry 5 was very much in the here and now, putting players smack-dab in the middle of the fictional Hope’s County, in the not-so-fictional state of Montana. Gone also were things like towers and the mini map, and in doing so Far Cry 5 put players in a kind of world that fans of the series were very much familiar with, but with new tools at their disposal. With no rigidity in place, Far Cry 5’s open world was more fluid and more emergent than ever before, and messing about in its sandbox and watching its systems interact with each other was an absolute blast, and it proved to be the perfect foil for the bombastic and chaotic gameplay that the series is known for.
