The Boss’ death and the sheer injustice of everything to do with that situation haunts us all to this day. In her final moments, she knew that she would go down in history as a war criminal, whereas the actual truth couldn’t be further away from that. And yet, her acceptance of the fact, and her essentially telling Snake that it was time for him to step up and be the one to pull the trigger on her, was a perfect encapsulation of how depressing that moment was.
