Metal Gear series creator Hideo Kojima had left the company in 2015 but Konami assured fans that the franchise would live on. How? Why, with Metal Gear Survive, a spin-off that focused more on survival, resource gathering, base building and zombies (sorry, Wanderers)! Because if there were any games that were still trendy and worth ripping off for easy money, it was the DayZ and H1Z1 titles of the world. Metal Gear Survive would be reviled by its fans and performed poorly, both critically and commercially. Konami hasn’t pushed any more cheap spin-offs to make a buck or two off the IP so the game’s failure had at least one thing going for it.
