Super Mario 3D All-Stars
When rumors began circulating of a remastered collection of 3D Mario platformers for the Nintendo Switch, everyone was excited. The actual reveal of Super Mario 3D All-Stars was pretty sobering because of little to no improvements or changes for each of its titles, not to mention the lack of Super Mario Galaxy 2. Whatever enthusiasm was left, Nintendo quickly stifled it by announcing that the collection would be purchasable for a limited time. What was the reason behind this, other than inducing the “Fear of Missing Out” to drive sales for the fiscal quarter? Super Mario 3D All-Stars was already guaranteed to be a success but the fact that Nintendo pulled this tactic as a means to boost sales anyway felt scummy.
