Rise of the Ronin
After seven years of development, with PS5 exclusivity and Sony XDev assisting, we expected Rise of the Ronin to offer more. Make no mistake – its combat is pretty good with multiple options and Styles. However, the open-world design feels overly simple, while the story fails to capture the excitement of the Bakumatsu era. It seems to have done well financially for Koei Tecmo (though sales numbers are unknown), but in a year bereft of first-party PS5 games, Rise of the Ronin couldn’t fill the gap.
