Lack of Major Franchise Titles Before April 2025
Sony started 2024 in a pretty controversial fashion by announcing that it wouldn’t release any “major franchise titles” before April 2025. While the PS5’s line-up still turned out pretty well, thanks to third-party efforts and Astro Bot, it killed enthusiasm for anything special right out of the gate. On the bright side, 2025 onwards looks better, with Sony committing to “major single-player titles yearly” after the launch of Ghost of Yotei.
