Saints Row (2022)

While the Saints Row franchise started life as one of the many GTA like open worlds of the PS2 generation, it managed to carve out a niche for itself with its signature style of humor and over the top action. Saints Row would go on to release multiple entries with varying levels of critical and commercial acclaim, but Saints Row 4’s tepid critical and commercial response put the series on indefinite hold.

The general consensus regarding Saints Row was that it was a thing of the past with little to no scope of being relevant in the modern gaming landscape. Volition tried to challenge that notion with Saints Row 2022, but that risk didn’t really pay off like the developers had hoped. Saints Row had some good things going for it, but the bland gameplay and uninteresting open world marred down its few merits by a significant margin – and the game failed to reinvigorate any interest for this franchise.
