Protagonist Tim is trying to rescue a princess from a monster. In the final level, events playing out are showcased in reverse and the princess is seen fleeing from Tim to be rescued by the knight. That’s right – you were the monster all along. While this could be interpreted as Tim being a creepy stalker, references to the atom bomb indicate that something much deeper is going on (and creator Jonathan Blow won’t say what).
