Duo bosses in the Souls series and various Souls-like have been a thing thanks to this iconic duo. Up till this point in Dark Souls, the player had never really had to contend with two bosses at once. Their respective styles are also incredibly potent with Ornstein’s speed and magic attacks comboing extremely well with Smough’s heavy damage. It’s a challenge to keep track of both of them at the same time, let alone respond to each properly. And to top it all off, killing one boss will cause the other to absorb its powers, regain all of its health and pose a new threat. A true masterpiece of a fight, even if it could be rage-inducing.
