Spyro the Dragon
How weird is it that Spyro the Dragon, a franchise developed by Insomniac Games and published by Sony for the PlayStation One, is now owned by Microsoft? Following the release of Spyro: Year of the Dragon, the IP would shift to Universal Interactive, then Vivendi Universal Games which would merge with Activision-Blizzard. Many titles outside of the original trilogy were fairly disposable but with the success of Spyro Reignited Trilogy, there was hope that Activision would deliver a true sequel like it did with Crash 4. Underwhelming sales for the latter may have stalled those plans but now that it’s part of Microsoft, perhaps we could see the IP take flight in a new way.
