Tower defense spin-offs aside, the animated chaos and outright insanity that was SNK’s Metal Slug pretty much stopped with Metal Slug 7 in 2009. A revised version of the same  would release in 2010 with Metal Slug XX but there hasn’t been a brand new game in nearly a decade. The formula of Metal Slug doesn’t exactly lend to longevity but the charm and arcade action just drew you in like nothing else. In the meantime, perhaps Broforce kind of fills the void.
