Nishiki’s Sacrifice – Yakuza Kiwami

Akira Nishikiyama is a thorn in Kiryu’s side when the latter leaves prison (taking the fall for a murder that Nishiki had committed). However, it’s his own inferiority, coupled with Shimano’s manipulation, that makes him turn on his long-time friend and attempt to seize the 10 billion yen for himself. In the end, after failing to defeat Kiryu, Yumi is shot by Jingu leading to Nishiki stabbing him and detonating a bomb that incinerates the cash. It doesn’t completely undo all the terrible things he had done but it was the moment where he finally stood up for himself, going out in a blaze of glory.
