Deus Ex
Deus Ex was revolutionary in several ways, including how it handled health. Each body part for JC Denton had a health bar, with the head and torso taking double the amount of damage and resulting in death when reaching zero. Meanwhile, the arms could be damaged to reduce accuracy, while leg damage reduces speed, eventually causing the player to crouch if both legs hit zero. Treatment is easy with a medical robot, items and medkits, but it forces players to think twice about their approaches.
