13. Make it less of a movie, more of a game
Pretty much every game after Call of Duty 4 seemed more like an interactive movie instead of a game. There were cinematics and the games were heavily scripted with cues every now and then to make us watch the spectacle that the developers had planned for us. All This is appreciated on the developers’ part to have the users experience something different, but it does get vexing and ennui inducing when you’re spending more time in watching such cinematics than playing the actual game.
MW 1 & 2 as well as Black Ops had a lot of these but they still managed to keep the essence of the game going. Ghosts on the other hand seemed more like something directed by a Michael Bay clone. Either way, it wasn’t really something I wish I’d played. It’s a game we want to play, not be a part of an interactive movie.
