12. Learn from Dark Souls
What I want to draw attention to, here is the storytelling aspect of the game. Dark Souls is a game that literally throws you into an unknown world and giving you nigh on zilch to help you cope with it. The game has almost no narration and yet it’s so captivating. How so? because the game tells the story through its ambience and your surroundings.
Now we don’t want Dark Souls-esque shooter, all I’m saying is that Sledgehammer can really take advantage of the environment in the next game. They can have hints and clues strewn across maps and missions that allude to the next aspect of the story line. Just enough to make the players wonder and meagre enough to not ruin the story.
