Taking inspiration from Resident Evil 4’s opening battle, Resident Evil 5 sees Chris and Sheva assaulted by hordes of Majini and an Executioner in the early going. The duo must survive until their backup arrives, which leads to a lot of running across structures, blowing up enemies with barrels and avoiding decapitation. While not quite as novel as RE4’s opening, it did offer a frenetic pace of its own to draw players in.
