Sony filed a trademark on the USPTO recently for something called The Order: 1886. It legitimately video games software, since it comes under that bracket of use.

Interestingly enough, the site for the game – TheOrder1886.com – was registered in the Netherlands, where Killzone developer Guerrilla Games is based. Could this be the company’s newest IP it’s been talking about for the PlayStation 4?

The developer is currently working on Killzone: Shadow Fall, which is due to launch with Sony’s next generation console by the Holiday season. It has mentioned that it is also working on a new IP and talked about how it was originally meant to be a steampunk game.

The name doesn’t sound too far off, especially if the game is set in 1886 like the title implies. Then again, it could be a whole different game. The connection to the Netherlands is too strong to ignore, however. Stay tuned for more details.
