Square Enix Hiring For NieR 3

For the glory of humankind.

Legendary auteur game designer Yoko Taro, and fan favorite development studio Platinum Games, are both known for making games that are highly acclaimed, but don’t sell much, if at all. Miraculously, however, NieR Automata, a collaboration between the two, ended up being a huge success, having sold 1.5 million copies worldwide at last count. It seems like two negatives indeed make a positive.

It should come as little surprise, then, that Square Enix already seems to be hiring for NieR 3. Job listings for scenario designers, game designers, and NPC designers, as well as what I think is a listing for scriptwriters, have shown up on Square Enix’s website- this indicates that they are moving ahead on a new, full fledged NieR game.

It is, of course, unclear whether or not Platinum will be working on this one, too- but given that Platinum’s penchant for great gameplay is what elevated NieR Automata to greatness, let’s hope that they will be.
