Square Enix’s Kingdom Hearts 3 has been in development for quite a while. It’s not quite Final Fantasy 15 levels of development hell, but rumours began circulating years before an official announcement took place at E3 2013. To the developer’s credit, it’s been working hard to polish the experience and deliver tons of worlds, including new ones like Frozen, Toy Story, Big Hero 6, and Monsters Inc.
How much will there be to do in Kingdom Hearts 3 though? Geek.com recently had a chance to experience the game and examined it as a newcomer to the series would. A Square Enix PR representative offered key information, like Sora being able to wall run on shimmering surfaces and having more agility in general. At one point, the article mentions that there will be a whopping 40 to 50 hours of content for the critical path (namely, the story).
With all the additional content and mini-games though, players can expect over 80 hours of content in total. Additional content, in this case, includes hidden ingredients for different recipes, 20 old-school titles that resemble Nintendo’s Game and Watch series, the Gummi Ship and its customization (handled by the folks who made Einhander, no less) and a cooking mini-game set in Ratatouille’s world.
Kingdom Hearts 3 is scheduled to launch on January 29th, 2019 for Xbox One and PS4.
