Assassin’s Creed Odyssey Visual Customization Brings Transmog to Loot System

Assassin's Creed Odyssey visual customization

As revealed in Ubisoft’s November update plans, Assassin’s Creed Odyssey will be receiving a visual customization feature. Probably better recognized as Transmog, the feature will go live today and will allow players to customize the look for any item. That means you can use the appearance for any piece of armour or weapon while still having the best stats.

In a recent blog post, Ubisoft outlined how this would work. You can use the visuals of any piece of gear or weapon, even if you sold it or dismantled it. However, if you never looted an item, it will be grayed out in the options and inaccessible unless discovered. Don’t worry though – any loot collected prior to the update will be unlocked automatically.

Visual styles can also only apply to certain items in the same category so you can’t apply the look of a sword onto a spear. Interestingly enough, some visual styles have variations, which can be unlocked as you level up. “All models are available, no matter your level or the level of the item. However, some models have additional variations that you unlock as your level increases. You need to have the item unlocked to see what variations are available,” says Ubisoft’s FAQ.

You can choose visual styles from Premium items as well, but you need to purchase those beforehand. As for when it will go live, look out for patch 1.07 to hit PC, Xbox One, and PS4 later today. You can also expect an increased level cap, smart loot improvements, and various other quality of life features.
