Naughty Dog have been making significant progress on The Last of Us Part 2 recently. After having wrapped up all scenes with Laura Bailey, as well as having shot the final scene of the game, game director Neil Druckmann has now confirmed on Twitter that all performance and motion capture work for Troy Baker and Ashley Johnson – who play dual protagonists Joel and Ellie respectively – has been completed.

Druckmann’s update on Twitter came with an image of Baker and Johnson on set in performance capture gear, while also being accompanied with a caption that called the game “the most ambitious cinematic shoot we’ve ever done”. Take a look below.

Considering the fact that the vast majority of shooting for the game seems to have been wrapped up, judging by all these recent announcements, it wouldn’t be a stretch to assume that development on The Last of Us Part 2 is entering its final stages (though it would still be an assumption). There has been plenty of speculation and a lot of reports that have suggested that Naughty Dog’s action-adventure title will be out later this year itself, and all the progress being made with its development definitely seems to suggest the same.

Until we have official confirmation from Sony though, don’t take this as gospel. Stay tuned, and we’ll keep you updated on any new info that comes our way.
