The troubled zombie title is still in development as per Lars Wingefors.

Dead Island 2

Of the many games that face delays, Dead Island 2 is probably the strangest. Announced as far back as E3 2014, it was originally in development by Yager (Spec Ops: The Line) and faced numerous delays before Deep Silver parted ways with it. Deep Silver has since been acquired by THQ Nordic, and the latter’s CEO Lars Wingefors says the game is still coming out.

In a recent presentation where THQ Nordic announced that it had 80 games in development, Wingefors confirmed that development was still ongoing. No additional details were provided, but Dead Island 2 is still assuredly in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC.

Sumo Digital, which recently released Team Sonic Racing, is handling development, but updates have been sparse, to say the least. What could the future of the game hold, especially with competitors like Dying Light 2 and Back 4 Blood offering their own zombie-killing gameplay twists? Hopefully, Dead Island 2’s gameplay has evolved over the many, many years of its development.
