It’s official- Death Stranding is releasing for the PS4 on November 8 of this year. Sony confirmed the same with an incredible, massive new trailer for the game today, and following that, they’ve been giving out new details on other aspects of the game as well.

Hideo Kojima himself recently explained the game’s central premise with a message, while special editions of the game have also been detailed. Now, updated details on the game’s page on the official PlayStation website have revealed new information about various aspects of the game, from its world, to its game over states (or the lack thereof), to its multiplayer elements, and a lot more.

Perhaps one of the most interesting detail to arise out of this is its game over states- in that Death Stranding won’t have any traditional game over states at all. “Death is not the end,” the game claims, which means that if you die in combat, instead of seeing a game over screen, you’ll instead find yourself in “an upside-down realm”, where you’ll then be tasked with finding a way back to the realm of the living. The page also claims that every death will “carry a consequence”, and that as such, you’ll have to choose your combat methods carefully. Apparently, “killing your foe is almost never the solution.”

Another very interesting bit of information pertains to the game’s multiplayer offerings. Death Stranding will have asynchronous online gameplay- no players will ever cross paths with each other, but will still be helping each other out through various actions, such as sending supplies, sharing safe houses, and “walking in the footsteps of fellow couriers to reunite civilization.”

Carrying your cargo will be an integral part of gameplay- though how exactly that will figure in and what significance that has to the narrative remains unknown. We only know we’ll be doing it while we embark on a mission “to reunite a broken nation”. Players will have to protect their cargo from supernatural beings called “Beached Things”, and will also have to protect themselves and their own supplies from roaming bandits.

Finally, the page also touts that thanks to the Decima EngineDeath Stranding boasts a “hyper-realistic world”. Players will often come across “unpassable obstacles”, and will, as a result, have to find alternate routes, while also constantly contending with supernatural beings and elements that can “alter the physical state of your surroundings.”

Death Stranding is out on November 8 for the PS4.
