Fallout 76: Wastelanders Update Delayed to Early 2020

Bethesda wants it to be "the best, most polished update it can be."

Fallout 76 Wastelanders

Those looking forward to seeing human NPCs, dialog choices and more in Fallout 76 with the Wastelanders update will have to wait a bit longer. Bethesda has announced that the update has been delayed to next year. It’s now slated for Q1 2020.

The reason is to allow more time for Wastelanders to be “the best, most polished update it can be.” Bethesda also added, “We’ve continued to re-evaluate and change our processes to make sure the work we’re doing hits our quality bar, and yours. We apologize for this delay but know it will be worth the extra time.”

Revealed at E3 2019, the Wastelanders update is meant to bring Fallout 76 closer to a traditional Fallout experience. It will introduce a new story quest and players can make choices that will have consequences. Given how many updates for Fallout 76 have turned out buggy, it’s probably a good thing that one as big as this has been delayed.

Bethesda also announced that private servers will be available next week though it apparently won’t be for free. The developer said it wants the service to “offer something for everyone” and that there will be an option for mods in the future. More details will be coming over the next few days, so stay tuned. In the meantime, the development team is busy working on new events, perk loudouts, the Legendary Player system, and more.
