Despite the hype surrounding the PlayStation 5, there are very few games that have actually been announced for the platform. However, one that sticks out is Bluepoint Games’ next remake. This isn’t because the developer has hyped it as “a re-envisioning given that it goes well beyond” what the studio had achieved with Shadow of the Colossus.

Rather, it’s because of the number of cryptic teases that have been made recently. Is it Demon’s Souls? Metal Gear Solid? Castlevania: Symphony of the Night? Whichever it may be, Bluepoint president Marco Thrush said there’s no question that it will become the studio’s most proud achievement.

Speaking to Segment Next, Thrush said, “We [Bluepoint Games] originally remastered Shadow of the Colossus for the PS3 and then remade it for the PS4. It’s the only one we’ve touched twice and to date it is our greatest achievement, so it’s easy to say that is our personal favorite. However, there’s no question in our minds that our current project will become the achievement we’re most proud of.”

Thrush added that, “Fortunately the Bluepoint Engine and toolset has been in development for many years. We have significantly invested in ways that allow our process of remastering or remaking games to be powerful and efficient. It is flexible and able to take advantage of any hardware.”

For now, it seems we aren’t going to hear any more about the actual game until Sony officially announces the same. The PlayStation 5 is currently slated to release in Holiday 2020 but is rumored to be revealed during an upcoming PlayStation Meeting in February. Stay tuned for more details in the meantime – it’s going to be a long road to the next generation.
