Resident Evil 3 Remake Won’t Have Multiple Endings, Unlike the Original

Capcom have already talked about how the upcoming remake of Resident Evil 3 will be making plenty of changes to the original PS1 title that launched in 1999- much more so than last year’s Resident Evil 2 did, in fact. From expanded roles for secondary characters to the obvious changes made to the camera, there’s going to be plenty of new stuff to dig into. Recently, they talked about one more way the remake will differ from the original.

Speaking in an interview with Official PlayStation Magazine UK in their February 2020 issue (via PSU), Resident Evil 3 producer Peter Fabiano confirmed that unlike the original, the upcoming remake will not have alternate endings, with Capcom choosing instead to focus on a single, scripted narrative this time around.

The original RE3 offers players dual choices at multiple junctions in a mechanic called Live Selection, and these choices would change the ending as well. Though it isn’t explicitly said whether or not Live Selections will be making a return in the remake, considering the fact that there are no alternate endings, and that Live Selections wouldn’t have much of a point anymore, we can probably assume they’re being removed as well.

Resident Evil 3 is out on April 3 for Xbox One, PS4, and PC, with Capcom confirming not too long ago that development on the survival horror title is close to completion. On Xbox One, the game will require 43 GB of free storage space– 21.93 GB for Resident Evil 3, and 20.47 GB for the 4v1 multiplayer experience Resident Evil: Resistance.
