Resident Evil 3 – New Details Hint At Significantly Expanded Role For Carlos

The hotheaded soldier is seemingly going to be a much more integral part of the story than he was in the original game.

With Resident Evil 3 less than two months away from launch, details on the game are starting to come in thick and fast. Just yesterday, Capcom released a new trailer of the game, which showcased new scenes of gameplay and story, gave more screentime to some supporting characters, and most importantly, gave us an extended look at the terrifying Nemesis.

Alongside that trailer, Capcom also released a bunch of new details for what will be the main characters in Resident Evil 3– among those, Carlos’ writeup holds some interesting details, reinforcing Capcom’s previous statements that secondary characters from the original game will have expanded roles in the remake (and their heavy suggestions that Carlos will have a lot more screentime). This, in turn, would also go in line with how Capcom are much more willing to change things up in Resident Evil 3 than they were in last year’s Resident Evil 2.

The writeup mentions that players will be “playing as Carlos at various points throughout the story.” This is interesting, because Carlos had one single (and not too long) playable section in the original Resident Evil 3: Nemesis, whereas it seems like he will have multiple of those in the remake.

The writeup goes on to explain that these sections provide “more background on Carlos himself” and that they offer “a different perspective on events as they unfold” and “additional details on why U.B.C.S. was dispatched to Raccoon City to begin with.” It definitely seems like Capcom are expanding upon Carlos’ side of the story quite a bit.

Resident Evil 3 is due out for the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 3. A bunch of new screenshots from the game were also recently released- take a look at them through here.
