Of the many games revealed at E3 2019, FromSoftware’s Elden Ring remains the most mysterious. We know that it’s an open world game that will serve as a “natural evolution” to the Dark Souls series. It also has Game of Thrones writer George R.R. Martin in charge of the world-building, which is enticing enough on its own.

Nevertheless, new details only emerge through reports and rumors. The latest comes from insider Omnipotent on ResetEra. They spoke about aspects like dynamic day/night cycles and weather, while also mentioning wildlife. “I’ll even throw you a bone and say wildlife, enemies out in the open world that change their positioning, both big and small. Things that make the world feel like it lives and breathes and doesn’t just exist as your playground and while they’re relatively minor when looked at as singular elements.

“You start to take all of these elements and put them together and ultimately what you have is something that again, shares the same DNA as past games, but culminates into something different.”

Omnipotent previously talked about Elden Ring taking inspiration from the likes of Shadow of the Colossus and Scotland’s landscapes. Take it all with a grain of salt, but it seems based on this like FromSoftware is going the extra mile with its open world design. We’ve already heard about how the world will change on its own outside of the decisions that the player makes.

Interestingly, Bloodborne 2 was also addressed. In response to another user stating that it could possibly be in the works for PS5, Omnipotent said, “From works on multiple projects all the time. As of right now, the game isn’t in development or in line to be in development. So in the event that a Bloodborne sequel does happen, it’s not happening any time soon.”

It’s not a definite “no,” but fans shouldn’t hold their breath regardless. The real question is what other projects the developer could be waiting to spring on us.

Elden Ring is currently in development for Xbox One, PS4, and PC. Stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
