That's some bold words.

final fantasy 7 remake

Final Fantasy 7 Remake is an ambitious project. A multiple part remake of one of the most beloved games of all time, it’s anticipated by many. By and large, the love for the game is still something felt by a lot of people, even those behind the scenes. Just to give you an example, producer Yoshinori Kitase seems to be content working on some version of the game for the rest of his career.

In an interview with GameSpot, Kitase talked about working on remake. He sees it as a way to keep the title fresh for new generations and wants to see the classic continuously updated for the future. He even goes further saying that’s he’s more than willing to work on that goal and work on Final Fantasy 7 in some form or another for his entire career if need be.

Final Fantasy 7 is a game which, if it just stayed as the original, would just be remembered as something from the past and people wouldn’t be as engaged with it. I think in order to be something that continues to be loved and followed by future generations we have to keep updating it as we’re doing now. And in 10 years time, 20 years time, it may need to be done again! So even if this is the only thing that I do in the rest of my career, I won’t be disappointed.”

It’s an interesting philosophy and seems a tad opposite of the game’s Director, who sees the remake as standing side-by-side with the original and less of a full update or replacement. The second part of Final Fantasy 7 Remake will apparently start right after the release of the first one on April 10th. As of now there’s been no word on how many parts we’re ultimately looking at, so it’s even possible Kitase may very well be working on this specific project for the remainder of his career.
