While Bloober Team may have set the Internet alight with speculation thanks to its mysterious countdown website “RemosdNeulSerorehsoOvamCeyerd.com,” the studio has confirmed that it is not leading up to a remake of the Punchline-developed horror title Rule of Rose. Speculation on it being a remake of the 2006 game came about thanks to similar imagery of a rose being present on the website.

“If this is teasing a Rule of Rose remake by Blooper Team that would actually be insane,” wrote social media user Radec. However, Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno has ended this speculation by confirming that there will be no remake. “Nice guess, but no. It definitely doesn’t refer to any remake,” he wrote on LinkedIn.

The studio may continue to maintain its silence over what the website is counting down to, but some speculation indicates that it is going to be Project M, which Bloober Team had announced in February 2023. The project is slated to be a survival horror game coming exclusively to the Nintendo Switch, and Babieno said that it will “introduce a bold twist” that hasn’t been done in the survival horror genre before. He also called it a “vision that could only exist on Nintendo hardware”.

Just last week, the countdown website had been updated with some new text, and a mysterious distorted voiceover of a man reciting lines from William Blake’s poem “The Sick Rose“. The text said: “Some things never leave the walls. They only learn to wait.” At the time of publishing, the countdown timer still has 12 days remaining.

Owing to a recently spotted European trademark, the mysterious game is believed to be titled “Onyx: The Dark Grip. This trademark was applied for all the way back in March 2024, with the registration going through later that year in August (with the latest update being last January).

Aside from Project M or Onyx (whatever it ends up called), Bloober Team has confirmed that it has started development on the remake of the original Silent Hill had begun back in October.

“We have two first party production teams, one of which is working on the Silent Hill 1 project and the other has started work on the next project,” said the studio during a Q&A session with investors. “As part of the second party, there are currently 5 projects.”

The latest Bloober Team game is Cronos: The New Dawn, which was released on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X/S in September. The survival horror game saw some early success, with 200,000+ launch-day sales and hitting the 500,000 sales milestone by November. For more details, check out our review.
