Remedy Entertainment have announced a major step that they’re taking for their future projects as we enter next-gen. The Finnish studio has entered into an agreement with an as-of-yet unnamed “major publisher,” with whom they will be working on two of their upcoming unannounced projects.

The first of these is described as a AAA production that is already in pre-production. Meanwhile, the second game is a “smaller-scale project set in the same franchise.” Both of these are being developed on the studio’s own Northlight engine, which was also used for the development of last year’s Control. Both games are being made for PC and next-gen consoles.

As per Remedy, the agreement they’ve entered into will see the development of both these games being funded by the publisher in full, while Remedy will receive 50 per cent of the net revenue accrued from these releases. Additionally, Remedy will also retain the full ownership of the games’ IP.

“The partnership extends Remedy’s strategy of creating and developing its own IP’s into long-term franchises,” the developer wrote, before adding, “Remedy’s financial outlook and guidance remain unchanged. The company estimates its revenue and operating profit to increase during 2020. Majority of the revenue and operating profit growth is expected to materialize during the second half-year period.”

The studio also says more details on this deal will be made available later today via press release, so stay tuned for that information.

Remedy Entertainment revealed last month that they were simultaneously working on four different projects. The first of these are the expansions for Control, with the first one, The Foundation, out now, and the second, AWE, coming later in the year. The second project is Crossfire Xwhile the third is an unannounced live service title. The studio also owns the Alan Wake IP, so there’s a chance they could be working on something related to that.
