Grounded

If you recently saw gameplay footage for Obsidian Entertainment’s survival sandbox title Grounded, then you might have seen the spiders. Due to the cast being shrunken down, these spiders are fairly big and might creep out those with arachnophobia. Obsidian realizes this and revealed on Twitter there will be an Arachnophobia Mode of sorts.

According to the tweet, “The team is implementing an arachnophobia mode to help with those who aren’t fans of spiders and still want to enjoy the game!” On being asked what this mode would do, the developer responded that, “There is still research being done as to what it will finally do. Once we’re ready to show it off, we will!”

It’s possible that the mode won’t be available when Grounded launches into Xbox Game Preview. Nevertheless, it’s good to see Obsidian taking this initiative to accommodate more players. As for how the mode could work, perhaps the giant spiders will be replaced with suitably less threatening creatures.

Grounded is currently slated to release on July 28th for Xbox One and PC. It will also be available on Steam Early Access. The full game is planned to launch sometime in 2021 so stay tuned for more details in the coming months.
