Having only been founded in 2018, it was a given that it’d be a while before we found out what The Initiative’s first game would be, but snippets of information have nonetheless managed to trickle in here and there. New details come to us from the LinkedIn profile of Christopher NG, who was a Technical Designer at the studio for 8 months until February.

Through his description of the work he did at the studio at the studio during his tenure, we can gather that The Initiative’s game runs on Unreal Engine 4, while also possibly learning about some interesting gameplay details. Apparently, the game features “various weapons, gadgets, and a camera surveillance system.” While that’s not an awful lot to go on, it does sound a lot like a Perfect Dark game- and that The Initiative are working on a revival of the classic series is something that has been speculated for a while.

A few months ago in fact, Xbox boss Phil Spencer hinted that the studio was working on “old things.” A while before that, The Initiative design director Drew Murray said that they were working on a “crazy ambitious” game. The studio has been on a pretty aggressive recruitment drive for a while, so it should be interesting to see what it comes up with.

Recent reports have suggested that Microsoft’s rumoured May reveal event for the Xbox Series X will feature new game reveals, something that Spencer has hinted at as well, so it’s possible that we might hear more about The Initiative’s game soon. Stay tuned for more updates.
