Following several leaks for Naughty Dog’s The Last of Us Part 2, in which the game’s major plot points and ending were revealed, the individuals responsible have been identified. Sony revealed to GamesIndustry.biz that the persons in question were not affiliated with the publisher or Naughty Dog. This contradicts rumors stating the leaks to be caused by a disgruntled employee at the studio.

Sony didn’t offer any more details, noting that the details were subject to an ongoing investigation. After the leaks, The Last of Us Part 2 was confirmed to be releasing on June 19th. The developer would subsequently issue a statement, expressing its disappointment and asking players to refrain from spoiling the game for others.

Whether you’ve read the leaks or not, there’s no denying that The Last of Us Part 2 is still one of the biggest games this year, if not the biggest exclusive. It takes place several years after the first game with Ellie embarking on a quest for vengeance. Stay tuned for more details and hopefully some official footage in the coming weeks.
