Capcom will be hoping to enter next-gen with a bang, with Resident Evil Village now confirmed for the PS5 and Xbox Series X (after months of leaks). Already, quite a few details have been confirmed for the upcoming sequel, with many of them falling in line with previous leaks with almost startling accuracy, and now, more details on the game may have emerged.

Recently, Dusk Golem (aka Aesthetic Gamer) – who has revealed quite a few details related to Resident Evil in the past, especially with Village – was over on Twitter talking about the upcoming horror game once more. Speaking about its structure, he said that Village will have plenty of optional content, including treasure collection a la Resident Evil 4 and 5.

He also said that titular village will have plenty of room for exploration. Though the game will be a mix of linear sections and more open spaces, there is apparently a bigger focus on exploration here (something that Dusk Golem has spoken about earlier as well) than any other game in the series. Supposedly, there’s even some similarities to Dark Souls, in that there will be parts of the village open to explore early on that will be harder to get through, but you might be able to take on with the right equipment.

He did, however, add that there will still be plenty of scripted sequences and set-pieces- just with “more wiggle room” for more open-ended sections of gameplay.

In another tweet, he also talked about the game’s length, suggesting that though Resident Evil Village will be longer than any other recent game in the series (7, 2, and 3), it won’t be quite as long as the likes of Resident Evil 4 or 6.

Resident Evil Village will be out in 2021 for PS5, Xbox Series X, and PC.
