While chatting with GamesIndustry about Nintendo’s upcoming console, Wii U, Crytek boss Avni Yerli said that the developers working at Crytek are “very happy” with the tests they ran on the Wii U development kits that were provided to them. Crytek, he says, is ‘excited’ about developing games on the system.
“The specs are very good,” he said. “It’s a challenge for designers, but once thought through it can add value, and that’s what ultimately important,” he continued, referring to the touch screen based controller and the other eccentric, yet interesting looking features that the Wii U boasts of.
He went on: “Our guys in Nottingham they are very happy with their tests on the dev kits and they’re excited about it.”
They’re not the only ones who’re interested in the system. EA, Ubisoft and Epic have already expressed their interest in the system, but BioWare, Irrational and Bethesda are not really sure. Third party games like Batman: Arkham City, Tekken Ninja Gaiden, Darksiders and others have already announced for the Wii U, though, so things are looking good on the third party fron thus far.
However, things are not going well with the Wii U. Recent reports suggest the console may be in “development hell.”
Stay tuned, we’ll keep you updated.
